Senior Commercial Counsel

Overview

A leading organization in the Pharmaceuticals & Biotech sector is seeking a Senior Commercial Counsel to provide business-aligned legal guidance focused on governance, compliance, and operational risk management. This role involves partnering with leaders, compliance stakeholders, and cross-functional teams to translate complex legal and regulatory issues into practical recommendations. The position supports responsible execution, improved decision-making, and sustainable growth within the Pharmaceuticals & Biotech environment.

Location: Remote (US-based candidates only, no visa sponsorship available)

Compensation: $200,000 annually

Responsibilities

• Lead drafting and negotiation of complex commercial agreements
• Collaborate with internal teams to assess risk and provide pragmatic legal guidance
• Advise on product initiatives with a product-oriented legal perspective
• Translate regulatory requirements into actionable guidance
• Enhance contract lifecycle management systems to improve efficiency
• Coordinate with the legal team on varying priorities and responsibilities
• Support business expansion while staying informed on fintech developments

Qualifications

• Juris Doctor (JD) degree with active bar membership in good standing
• Minimum 3 years of in-house legal experience beyond commercial contracting
• At least 5 years managing commercial contract deliverables
• 8+ years of experience at a senior legal level
• Experience in a high-growth or early-stage in-house legal environment
• Strong knowledge of financial services and data/privacy regulations
• Proven ability to lead complex commercial deals

Preferred Skills and Experience

• Familiarity with Ironclad and AI tools
• Experience with contract management systems
• Knowledge of financial services regulations and data privacy regulations
• Experience with data management systems, collaboration and negotiation platforms, and compliance management tools
