Overview

A law firm is seeking a Senior Conflicts Attorney to join their New Business Intake team. This position may be remote or hybrid from any of the firm's office locations. The Senior Conflicts Attorney will support offices nationally as directed by the General Counsel, primarily reviewing conflict check reports related to business intake and new hire processes, identifying legal and business conflicts, and managing their resolution. The role involves daily collaboration with partners, the General Counsel, and other firm leadership.

Responsibilities

  • Review conflict reports from the business intake process to identify potential legal and business conflicts of interest.
  • Provide detailed analysis and advice directly to partners and collaborate with firm members to resolve conflict issues.
  • Assist in drafting and approving engagement letters and edit letters drafted by others.
  • Draft conflict waivers and facilitate waiver requests.
  • Review conflict reports related to the new hire process and advise HR, the Strategic Growth Committee, firm leadership, and new hires on conflict issues.
  • Oversee implementation and maintenance of ethical walls and other legal screens.
  • Guide Conflict Analysts and New Business Analysts on best practices, including corporate family research and conflict report preparation.
  • Respond to queries from attorneys and professional staff regarding business intake policies, conflicts of interest, ethical considerations, and firm policies.
  • Participate in ad hoc projects from the Office of General Counsel.
  • Work outside normal business hours as needed.

Requirements

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree and active bar license in the state where the Senior Conflicts Attorney will work.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a conflicts department at a mid- to large-sized law firm.
  • Working knowledge of conflict reports produced from Intapp Open and familiarity with legal software such as D&B/Hoovers, other Intapp products (e.g., Walls), CapIQ, and WorldCheck.
  • Knowledge of professional responsibility and legal ethics rules.
  • Experience with database searching and proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Word).
  • Strong attention to detail, ability to think quickly, and work under pressure to meet deadlines.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to communicate effectively across multiple media (in-person, phone, Microsoft Teams) with diverse personality types.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle confidential client information with discretion and sensitivity.
  • Preferred experience interfacing directly with clients.
  • Ability to oversee and supervise staff members as needed.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Salary range: $160,000 – $180,000 annually, depending on experience.
  • Eligibility for discretionary bonus.
