Overview

A healthcare technology organization is seeking a Senior Corporate Counsel to provide legal guidance and support across product, engineering, and security teams. This role involves embedding legal and compliance frameworks into the product lifecycle, ensuring adherence to healthcare, privacy, and regulatory requirements while supporting innovation in AI-powered healthcare solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as product counsel, collaborating with engineering, product, and security teams to support product design, development, and deployment.
  • Provide actionable legal guidance on regulatory, privacy, and compliance matters, including HIPAA, CCPA/CPRA, and evolving AI/ML regulations.
  • Advise on healthcare regulatory compliance, including FDA, FTC, fraud and abuse laws (FCA, AKS), and related state laws.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams such as policy, partner experience, marketing, IT, finance, corporate development, and commercial to ensure alignment and risk mitigation.
  • Support privacy impact assessments, compliance risk assessments, and data governance frameworks.
  • Coordinate with external counsel to address specialist issues and deliver timely legal guidance and risk analysis.
  • Monitor emerging regulations related to AI, data use, and healthcare technology and advise internal stakeholders accordingly.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 8 years of legal experience, including at least 4 years in product counseling.
  • Prior experience in-house, government, or law firm with a focus on healthcare law is required.
  • Strong understanding of federal and state healthcare laws, including HIPAA and data privacy regulations.
  • Experience with FDA, FTC, FCA, and fraud, waste, and abuse laws.
  • Ability to communicate complex regulatory and legal concepts clearly and practically to non-legal colleagues.
  • Comfortable managing multiple projects, tight deadlines, and competing priorities.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently, exercise business judgment, and thrive in a small team environment prioritizing autonomy and trust.
  • Proven cross-functional collaboration skills, especially with technical, design, and commercial teams.
  • Creative problem-solving skills for novel legal issues and experience developing new processes and language for a fast-moving enterprise.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Expertise in intellectual property, AI, interoperability, or technology law.
  • Familiarity with recent trends in artificial intelligence, particularly large language models and responsible AI principles.
  • Prior in-house experience at a growth-stage or healthcare technology company.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Salary range: $182,750 - $255,000

This is a remote position with a preference for candidates located in San Francisco or New York City.
