- AI Inventory intake
- AI Impact Assessment review
- legal sign-off
- continuously mature AI Design Guidelines as regulatory and product landscapes evolve
- Serve as the primary legal point of contact for internal AI-related initiatives, including legal review of AI tools and use cases.
- Conduct legal risk assessments for AI-enabled and other product capabilities, including:
- automated decision-making
- algorithmic scoring or prioritization
- employee- or customer-facing automation
- triage broader product legal risk across areas such as telecom and call-recording laws, consumer protection, fintech, employment, and intellectual property/confidential information
- exercise judgment on urgency and escalation to the right subject-matter experts (including Privacy Counsel on privacy-specific matters), business stakeholders, or outside counsel
- Evaluate legal and regulatory risk of AI products and tools considered for internal procurement or integration into the platform for downstream customer distribution, and define required contractual safeguards.

- Partner with Marketing and Commercial Legal to ensure AI-related product claims (e.g., “automated,” “AI-powered”) are accurate and substantiated.

- 8–10 years of combined law firm and in-house experience counseling technology companies on product development, data, and emerging-technology legal issues.
- Meaningful hands-on experience advising on generative AI governance, deployment, or compliance (recent, applied experience is weighted more heavily than total tenure).
- Broader experience with automated decision-making, algorithmic systems, or data-driven products that predates the generative AI wave (e.g., ad tech, biometric technology, scoring or eligibility systems, earlier-generation ML features) is strongly preferred.
- Working knowledge of U.S. consumer protection and communications law (TCPA), biometric privacy statutes (e.g., BIPA), and state automated decision-making/AI laws (e.g., California's CCPA ADMT rules, the Colorado AI Act).
- Experience building or operating an AI governance program (e.g., AI inventories, impact assessments, and cross-functional review workflows) preferred.
- Experience advising non-product business functions on legal and compliance considerations of adopting AI-powered tools, including vendor risk, data handling practices, and deployment safeguards.
- Technology industry experience in a B2B SaaS company; experience where compliance decisions affect real-world business and consumer outcomes is a plus.
- Pragmatic, business-oriented approach to problem solving, with strong project management and cross-functional collaboration skills.
