Overview
This role serves as Senior Counsel for a global automotive business operating in over 21 countries, delivering vehicle protection services and auto-related risk-transfer products through diverse distribution channels. The position involves acting as a strategic legal advisor, supporting high-impact initiatives, enabling sustainable growth, and managing legal risk.
This is a remote position with a strong preference for candidates based in the Atlanta, GA or Miami, FL areas. Exceptional candidates in other locations will also be considered.
Responsibilities
- Draft, negotiate, revise, and edit agreements with third-party partners such as dealerships, OEMs, agencies, TPAs, and service providers.
- Lead negotiations on dealership, agency, and TPA administration agreements; profit-participation program agreements; dealer loan and retro programs; reinsurance treaties and related trust agreements.
- Assess risks associated with contract provisions and provide alternative language to support business objectives and operational practices.
- Provide legal advice on applicable laws and regulations, including analysis of emerging legislation and its impact on business practices.
- Counsel business leaders on legal risks and recommend actions to minimize exposure.
- Review contract terms and conditions to advise on rights and obligations.
- Participate in cross-functional teams for the design, review, and implementation of strategic projects, including new product and service development.
Requirements
- Juris Doctor (JD) degree.
- Minimum of 6 years of legal experience in a law firm or corporate law department.
- Active license to practice law in a U.S. jurisdiction.
- Experience drafting and negotiating complex contracts.
- Ability to analyze complex legal and regulatory issues and recommend appropriate, defensible actions.
- Strong judgment, ability to manage competing priorities, and deliver high-quality client service under pressure.
- Highly autonomous and self-motivated.
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential matters professionally.
- Strong executive presence, interpersonal skills, and excellent writing and speaking abilities.
- Demonstrated leadership skills and ability to build a trusted, collaborative work environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of automotive F&I service contracts and ancillary programs, relevant laws, regulations, and industry developments.
- Experience with service contract products (home warranty, mobile protection, consumer goods), insurance, or other regulated industries.
- Ability to apply comprehensive legal knowledge to complex tasks.
- Strong fact evaluation, legal research, and statutory/case-law interpretation skills.
- Ability to recommend and defend courses of action aligned with business and enterprise goals.
- Accounting, finance, reinsurance, or risk management experience or education.
- Consistent demonstration of ethical conduct and adherence to professional codes of ethics.
Travel
- Ability to travel as necessary, up to 10%.
Compensation & Benefits
- Pay range: $122,400.00 - $204,400.00 annually.
- Compensation considers candidate background, experience, and work location, with potential for salary growth within the position.
Location
- Remote role with preference for candidates located in Atlanta, GA or Miami, FL areas.
