Overview
A leading organization in the Information Technology sector is seeking a Senior Counsel, Legal & Compliance to join their team. This role involves supporting high-impact legal and compliance work that directly contributes to business performance and team success. The position requires collaboration across multiple functions to advance priorities, solve complex problems, and deliver measurable outcomes. Location: Remote (U.S. based candidates only; no visa sponsorship available)
Compensation: $195,000 – $280,000 annually
Responsibilities
- Lead and enhance the organization's OFAC sanctions and counter-illicit finance program
- Interpret and advise on changes to sanctions regulations
- Collaborate on investigations and disposition decisions for complex or edge cases
- Conduct annual risk assessments and country-specific evaluations
- Deliver quarterly compliance reports to senior leadership
- Lead GDPR and privacy compliance frameworks
- Support product teams with privacy risk assessments
Qualifications
- Juris Doctor (JD) degree with 5-7+ years of experience in sanctions/OFAC compliance, anti-money laundering (AML), or financial crimes
- Working knowledge of GDPR, CCPA/CPRA, and related privacy laws
- Strong understanding of blockchain technology and digital asset markets
- Demonstrated experience making disposition decisions
- Experience collaborating with Engineering, Product, and business teams
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, results-oriented environment
- Interest in utilizing AI tools for legal process innovation
Preferred Skills and Experience
- Familiarity with risk assessment tools for executing annual risk assessments
- Experience using legal research databases to track legislative and regulatory developments
- Knowledge of data privacy management platforms to support privacy risk analyses
