Overview
A legal team focused on technology and AI is seeking a Product Counsel to support consumer hardware products and technologies. This role involves working closely with teams in customer support, operations, product safety, environmental compliance, and engineering to address legal issues related to AI-embedded consumer devices.
Responsibilities
- Serve as primary legal counsel for teams focused on consumer hardware product safety, customer support, and material/environmental compliance.
- Anticipate and prepare for legal risks related to product safety, regulatory compliance, privacy, and consumer protection.
- Develop creative legal strategies and scalable processes to manage risk.
- Become an expert in legal issues surrounding AI-embedded consumer hardware and contribute to related legal policy strategies.
Requirements
- Minimum of 8 years of experience combining in-house and technology-focused law firm roles.
- Strong understanding of legal principles with a practical, principled approach to problem-solving.
- Ability to build cross-functional relationships and communicate effectively to balance risk-taking with responsible development.
- Demonstrated ownership, independence, inquisitiveness, enthusiasm for technology, and sound judgment in ambiguous situations.
- Juris Doctor (JD) degree and license or qualification to practice law in California.
Compensation & Benefits
- Salary range: $297,000 to $330,000 annually.
- Hybrid work model requiring 3 days per week in the San Francisco, CA office.
- Relocation assistance available for new employees.
