Overview

A global leader in workflow and automation solutions for anatomic pathology laboratories is seeking a Senior Counsel to support its business units and related support functions. This role involves providing legal guidance on complex issues in a dynamic multinational environment, focusing on business transformation and innovation.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as lead legal advisor for two or more business units and support functions, including R&D, product management, sales and marketing, supply chain, manufacturing, compliance, clinical affairs, and strategy.
  • Provide practical, solution-oriented legal advice and draft and negotiate agreements addressing complex legal issues and risks.
  • Act as a primary legal and compliance contact globally, partnering with business leaders on strategic and operational challenges.
  • Serve as a legal subject matter expert and strategic advisor on cross-functional projects, leading teams to solve complex business problems and support strategic transactions.
  • Collaborate with specialist attorneys and external counsel on intellectual property, employment, regulatory, compliance, M&A, joint ventures, and other matters.
  • Manage commercial disputes and litigation.
  • Utilize business system tools to identify, design, and implement continuous process improvement initiatives within the legal and compliance team.
  • Occasionally support legal matters for other operating companies within the diagnostics and life sciences markets.

Requirements

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited U.S. law school.
  • Active bar membership in good standing in at least one U.S. jurisdiction.
  • Minimum of 6 years of experience with complex commercial and corporate transactions, including at least 3 years in a large law firm transactional practice.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage a global client base and multiple matters simultaneously.
  • Strong communication skills, capable of working effectively with associates at all levels.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in the diagnostic/in vitro diagnostics (IVD) or medical device industries.
  • Knowledge of healthcare regulations, including fraud and abuse laws (e.g., anti-kickback statutes), FDA and CE/IVDR regulations for medical devices, and data privacy laws such as HIPAA and GDPR.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Salary range: $210,000 to $250,000, with potential for bonus/incentive pay.

Location & Work Arrangements

  • Remote position.
  • Travel required approximately 15% or less, flexible.
