Overview

This role involves joining the organization’s global Legal team as a senior technology lawyer, with a primary focus on complex commercial arrangements and high-priority initiatives, particularly within the compute division.

Working closely with the Chief Legal Officer and legal team leaders, you will partner with senior leadership on important commercial and strategic legal matters. You will be brought into opportunities early to help the business navigate commercial structure, risk allocation, and path to execution. The work spans major technology partnerships, strategic customer and supplier arrangements, infrastructure and capacity deals, new products and routes to market, and other strategic initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Support complex and strategic transactions for data center procurement and customer agreements, moving efficiently from negotiation through execution.
  • Partner directly with the Chief Legal Officer, executive leadership, and senior stakeholders on high-priority legal matters focused primarily on the compute division.
  • Advise on the legal and commercial structure of strategic technology partnerships involving cloud, networking, data centers, infrastructure, compute, storage, software, and other technology services.
  • Lead negotiations with sophisticated counterparties, including global technology companies, cloud providers, infrastructure providers, strategic partners, major enterprise customers, and suppliers.
  • Advise on technology, data, privacy, intellectual property, cybersecurity, and regulatory issues arising from strategic transactions.
  • Support the Chief Legal Officer and collaborate with legal team leaders on special projects and strategic initiatives, including matters that may be commercially sensitive, confidential, or require a high degree of judgement.
  • Serve as a trusted senior member of the Legal team and a sounding board for colleagues managing complex commercial issues.
  • Provide support to the broader global Legal team during busy periods.
  • Identify opportunities to simplify working practices, improve the contracting approach, and enable business execution without compromising what matters.

Requirements

  • Significant post-qualification experience as a lawyer (between 7–10 years), ideally with a substantial portion of experience gained in-house in a technology, data centre, cloud, telecommunications, infrastructure, or SaaS environment.
  • Admission and good standing in at least one US jurisdiction.
  • Proven experience leading complex, high-value, or strategically important commercial transactions with sophisticated counterparties.
  • Strong technology transactions experience, including comfort working through the detail of technology and infrastructure arrangements and understanding how the underlying commercial and technical model affects the contract.
  • Experience working directly with C-suite executives and senior business leaders, with confidence to challenge constructively, exercise judgement, and provide clear recommendations.
  • Exceptional commercial judgement, including an understanding of the business’ risk appetite and the ability to distinguish issues that truly matter from those that can be addressed pragmatically.
  • Excellent negotiation skills across experienced legal, commercial, and executive teams at large global technology companies.
  • Excellent drafting skills, especially where bespoke terms are required rather than reliance on standard templates.
  • A practical, commercial approach with a strong bias toward plain English.
  • Ability to take an ambiguous problem, determine what needs to happen, and drive it to an outcome independently.
  • Intellectual curiosity and a genuine interest in technology, with willingness to understand how the products, infrastructure, and commercial models you advise on work.
  • Strong stakeholder instincts, including the ability to build credibility quickly and adapt communication style for engineers, sales leaders, external lawyers, and executives.
  • Ability to manage multiple significant matters simultaneously across different jurisdictions and time zones while maintaining focus on what is commercially important.
  • High levels of integrity, discretion, and professional judgement.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with cloud infrastructure, Network as a Service, telecommunications, data centers, AI infrastructure, or adjacent technology sectors.
  • Experience negotiating with hyperscalers or other major global technology companies.
  • Experience with strategic alliances, joint go-to-market arrangements, capacity or infrastructure agreements, complex procurement arrangements, or new product launches.
  • Exposure to corporate transactions, investments, acquisitions, or other strategic corporate projects.
  • Experience working in a fast-growing, global, or publicly listed technology company.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Flexible working environment with a remote-first culture and coworking options available.
  • Generous leave plans, including 4 weeks of paid annual leave, parental leave, birthday leave, and a purchased annual leave program.
  • Health and wellness support via a wellness allowance and employee wellbeing initiatives.
  • Comprehensive learning support with a generous study and training allowance plus 5 days of paid study leave.
  • Creative, modern workspaces designed to support collaboration when not working remotely.
