Overview
A leading organization in the media sector is seeking a Senior Legal Counsel to join their team. This role involves delivering legal outcomes that support customers and stakeholders within the media space. The position requires cross-functional collaboration and ownership of key priorities, offering visibility, growth opportunities, and significant impact.
Location: Remote (U.S. based candidates only; no visa sponsorship available)
Compensation: $150,000 – $200,000 annually
Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary legal advisor to the executive team
- Develop and implement legal strategies aligned with company growth objectives
- Manage and negotiate a wide range of commercial transactions
- Oversee corporate governance and entity structures
- Ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations across multiple jurisdictions
- Protect and manage the intellectual property portfolio
- Support data privacy and compliance initiatives
- Effectively manage relationships with external legal counsel
Requirements
- Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school
- Active bar membership in good standing
- Minimum of 10 years of legal experience, including both law firm and in-house roles
- Broad commercial and corporate legal expertise, including contract negotiation and regulatory compliance
- Strong knowledge of technology, digital media, or gaming law, including intellectual property and data privacy
- Familiarity with data protection frameworks such as GDPR and CCPA
- Excellent judgment in balancing legal risks with business opportunities
- Ability to clearly communicate complex legal concepts to non-legal stakeholders
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience managing outside counsel and legal budgets
- Familiarity with international employment law
- Knowledge of AI law and emerging regulations
- Experience with SEC reporting frameworks
- Background in the gaming or digital content industry
- Fluency in Spanish
- Understanding of data security and cybersecurity tools, including encryption technologies
- Knowledge of content licensing management systems
- Proficiency in legal research databases such as Westlaw and LexisNexis
