Overview
A Senior Paralegal specializing in Litigation and Employment is needed to support the legal team under attorney general supervision. This role involves managing litigation, government investigations, and labor and employment matters. The position reports to the Executive Director, Counsel, Litigation & Risk.
Responsibilities
Litigation Support
- Receive, handle, and distribute service of process at the primary location and coordinate service at other sites.
- Collaborate with in-house and outside counsel to execute and update legal holds and respond to employee inquiries regarding the legal hold process.
- Manage complex and voluminous case files, both electronic and hard copy, including developing and maintaining case charts and summaries.
- Coordinate with various departments across locations to gather and organize documents needed for discovery and deposition preparation.
- Assist in coordinating witness interviews and deposition preparation.
- Conduct fact investigations and legal research.
- Perform due diligence on potential expert consultants.
Document and Information Requests
- Identify and prepare documents responsive to discovery, subpoenas, and diligence requests, including necessary redactions.
- Handle subpoenas and requests for employment records.
- Obtain verifications for discovery responses and pleadings; prepare certifications for subpoena responses.
Claims Handling
- Ensure proper notice and reporting to the company’s insurers for all litigation matters.
- Obtain updates related to insurance policy renewals.
- Provide timely notice of claims to the pharmacovigilance department.
- Manage pre-litigation claims under attorney supervision.
Additional Duties
- Assist in preparing updates to legal proceedings footnotes for 10Q and 10K filings.
- Provide legal assistance to Sales Operations regarding healthcare provider eligibility.
- Support updates to legal policies and training.
- Provide administrative support to the Litigation Group.
Qualifications
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Paralegal certification required.
- Minimum of 7 years of progressive legal experience, preferably in a corporation, pharmaceutical company, or law firm.
- Strong understanding of the litigation process.
- Experience conducting fact investigations and legal research.
Skills
- Advanced computer skills, including proficiency with Case Management Software, Adobe Acrobat Pro, and MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
- Ability to learn new software and systems quickly.
- Strong presentation, writing, organizational, critical thinking, and reasoning skills.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively across departments.
- Ability to work collaboratively in teams, resolve conflicts constructively, and exercise excellent judgment.
- Experience managing multiple projects and meeting deadlines with minimal supervision.
