Overview
The Senior Paralegal provides advanced legal support to attorneys working with the Impact, Finance, and Markets Team and other global strategies. This role involves managing and coordinating legal services to ensure transactions and activities comply with organizational policies, legal requirements, and risk management standards. The Senior Paralegal works under minimal supervision, applying specialized knowledge to support complex legal matters efficiently.
Responsibilities
- Review and analyze legal documents such as non-disclosure agreements, contracts, and transaction-related materials, escalating issues to attorneys as needed.
- Manage document version control and coordinate legal projects related to impact investing, conservation transactions, contracts, regulatory compliance filings, and other specialized matters.
- Ensure compliance with binding commitments, organizational policies, and applicable laws, advising staff on compliance obligations.
- Maintain and manage official corporate legal files in electronic and paper formats.
- Draft legal agreements, governance documents, memoranda, and correspondence for attorney review and incorporate revisions.
- Serve as a liaison with business unit staff and external stakeholders.
- Provide day-to-day support including calendar management, file organization, and meeting agenda preparation.
- Assist attorneys with staff training initiatives.
- Provide guidance and training to less experienced paralegals, legal support staff, and volunteers.
- Lead or contribute to cross-functional and departmental projects.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree plus at least 5 years of combined legal and administrative experience, or equivalent qualifications through coursework and/or related job experience.
- Project management experience, including leading cross-functional or departmental projects or project management certification.
- Relevant transactional legal experience, including corporate governance matters.
- Experience conducting legal research using the Internet and other resources.
- Proficiency with MS Office, enterprise file management systems such as SharePoint or iManage, and familiarity with artificial intelligence tools.
- Strong communication, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.
- Writing skills with experience editing and drafting legal documents.
- Attention to detail, project tracking, time management, prioritization, and organizational skills.
- Experience drafting templates, checklists, guidance, or other tools to improve project efficiency.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with complex corporate and finance transactions.
- Familiarity with impact investing, climate, and conservation work.
- Multi-lingual skills and multi-cultural experience.
Compensation & Benefits
- Starting salary range: $50,000 to $79,000, dependent on location, qualifications, skills, and experience.
