Overview

This role leads forms drafting for a line of business within the Legal & Compliance organization. You will own personal auto or property forms architecture based on your experience, serve as backup for the other line, and drive new state packages from research to filing with attorney review.

Drafting standards, reusable templates, and complex state package execution are central to the position. Filing, version control, and system implementation are handled by dedicated teammates, allowing you to focus on research, drafting, and improving the team’s output quality.

Responsibilities

  • Tackle the most complex new-state packages, including states with extensive or ambiguous statutory requirements, and develop the drafting approach for the team.
  • Draft complete new state and product forms packages for your line of business, including base policies, endorsements, state amendatory endorsements, and required notices, ready for filing.
  • Build and maintain the countrywide base forms and reusable state kit for your line, including:
    • Personal auto: UM and UIM, PIP, selection and rejection forms, and state notices.
    • Property: homeowners, manufactured home, condo, and flood, including surplus lines notices where applicable.
  • Research state statutes and regulations directly and translate them into compliant, clear policy wording.
  • Draft responses to Department of Insurance objections and participate in regulatory discussions alongside counsel.
  • Own drafts from first research to attorney-approved final while working independently (attorney review is the only check before work moves to filing).
  • Establish drafting standards and reusable language that make each new state package faster to produce than the last.
  • Lead internal knowledge sharing on policy forms in your line of business.
  • Serve as backup drafter for the other line of business so no launch depends on a single person.
  • Use and evaluate AI-assisted research and drafting tools (including competitor research, automated formatting, and AI-assisted statutory research) as part of the daily drafting workflow; apply human judgment to assess AI output, flag areas requiring review, and identify opportunities to improve tool accuracy, coverage, and effectiveness.
  • Maintain and update forms packages in your assigned line of business, revising in response to new statutes, regulations, DOI bulletins, and product enhancements and coverage changes.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of policy form drafting experience.
  • Experience drafting personal lines policy forms for multiple states.
  • Experience reading state insurance statutes and regulations directly and converting requirements into policy language.
  • Experience drafting responses to regulator objections on form filings.
  • Track record of drafting complete forms packages independently, with attorney review as the only check.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle complex or ambiguous statutory requirements with minimal guidance.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with either of the following lines of business:
    • Personal auto: UM and UIM, PIP, selection and rejection forms, state notices.
    • Property: homeowners, condo, manufactured home, flood, or surplus lines notices.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Competitive salary and company equity through Restricted Stock Units (RSUs), granted as part of the standard compensation package and based on role and level.
  • 401(k) with company match up to 4% of eligible earnings.
  • Multiple medical plan options, plus dental and vision coverage.
  • Company-funded HSA contributions (based on medical plan selection).
  • Company-paid life insurance and short-term disability.

Health & Wellbeing

  • Supplemental benefit options including long-term disability, critical illness, accident, legal, and pet insurance.
  • Access to mental health support and confidential counseling resources.
  • Flexible PTO for exempt employees (most employees take 15–20 days per year), plus 8 company-observed holidays.
  • Paid parental leave, including up to 14 weeks at 100% pay for birthing parents and 8 weeks at 100% pay for non-birthing parents.

  • Professional development budgets for certifications, conferences, and learning available, subject to management approval.
