Overview

A mid-level Senior Product & Commercial Counsel role is available to support a SaaS platform designed for home renovation and construction professionals. This position operates at the intersection of product development, monetization, and regulatory risk, serving as a key legal partner to Product, Engineering, Sales, and Marketing teams.

The platform is a core growth engine, and this role involves shaping legal support for a complex, evolving SaaS business with visibility across high-impact initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Provide product and regulatory counseling by advising product and engineering teams on new features, launches, and iterations, including subscriptions, lead generation, CRM tools, and marketing automation.
  • Offer legal guidance on consumer protection, advertising, disclosures, auto-renewal, AI, pricing, and feature gating.
  • Identify regulatory risks early and translate legal requirements into practical product and user experience guidance.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders on data use, consent flows, and regional compliance considerations.
  • Escalate complex or high-risk issues to senior legal leadership as needed.
  • Draft, review, and negotiate commercial agreements supporting the platform and related business teams.
  • Design scalable contract review and intake processes to support a commercial pipeline.
  • Act as a legal partner to Sales and Sales Operations teams.
  • Support Sales and Marketing on customer-facing terms, promotions, pilot programs, and new monetization initiatives.
  • Advise on sales claims, marketing language, and competitive positioning to ensure accuracy and compliance.

Requirements

  • 5-7 years of relevant experience, including startup or in-house experience, preferably at a technology company.
  • Experience advising on product launches, including subscription products, or fintech/payments.
  • Familiarity with subscription laws, auto-renewal laws, advertising regulations, and basic privacy principles.
  • Interest in AI-enabled products and emerging technology issues.
  • Ability to operate in ambiguity and make judgment calls with incomplete information.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, able to convey legal concepts in plain English.
  • Excellent legal, analytical, negotiation, and presentation skills.
  • Understanding of and enthusiasm for the SaaS platform.
  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree and admission to a state bar.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with SaaS, B2B, or technology companies.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Annual starting salary range: $170,000 - $205,000.
