Overview
This remote freelance opportunity is for experienced US legal experts with a strong paralegal background to work as independent contractors. The role involves evaluating and improving AI-generated legal writing by analyzing outputs from advanced AI models and providing structured feedback based on professional legal writing standards.
Responsibilities
- Review and assess AI-generated legal documents, briefs, and responses for accuracy, clarity, and stylistic quality.
- Compare outputs from multiple AI language models to determine adherence to US legal writing conventions.
- Evaluate content based on legal writing dimensions including terminological precision, syntactic accuracy, formal tone, and structural coherence.
- Complete structured assessments such as True/False evaluations and ranking tasks using defined rubrics.
- Provide expert insights to identify gaps in AI writing quality and help refine training criteria.
Requirements
- Proven professional experience as a Paralegal or Legal Expert specializing in US law.
- Deep understanding of the US legal system, legal terminology, and documentation standards (contracts, briefs, regulatory texts).
- Strong background in document review, legal research, or compliance drafting.
- Exceptional attention to detail with the ability to assess nuanced differences in writing quality.
- Ability to work independently on a web-based evaluation platform.
- Must have own laptop or device and reliable Wi-Fi connection.
- Availability to work during Indian Standard Time (IST) business hours for 8 hours a day.
Preferred Qualifications
- Paralegal certification or degree in Legal Studies.
- Experience developing internal style guides, rubrics, or quality assurance standards.
- Familiarity with legal drafting conventions across different US jurisdictions.
Compensation & Contract Details
- Position type: 1099 independent contractor (freelance/retainer).
- Weekly retainer ranging from $800 to $920 USD based on agreed availability and completion of assigned work.
- Equivalent hourly rate of $20.00 to $23.00 USD for up to 40 hours per week.
- Work conducted remotely through a dedicated evaluation portal.
- Initial pilot phase involves approximately 30 evaluation questions, with potential to scale based on performance.
- Contractors are responsible for their own taxes and benefits.

- Must be available to work during IST business hours.
Onboarding & Compliance
- All contractors will be onboarded through a compliance platform and must submit required documentation to begin work.
- Applicants outside the US should be aware of their local tax laws regarding independent contracting.
