Overview
A partner organization is seeking a USCIS Interview Staff Attorney based in the United States. This role focuses on the critical stage of the immigration process involving USCIS interviews. The attorney will work directly with clients to prepare for and attend their interviews, providing legal advocacy and support in high-stakes settings. The position requires strong interpersonal skills, courtroom composure, and collaboration with internal legal and operations teams. Travel within assigned regions to multiple USCIS offices is required.
Responsibilities
- Review client immigration files and prior submissions to identify key facts, risks, and case considerations before USCIS interviews.
- Conduct thorough pre-interview preparation sessions to help clients structure their narratives and respond confidently.
- Attend USCIS interviews alongside clients to provide legal advocacy, support, and real-time representation.
- Document detailed notes during interviews and update case management systems accurately.
- Coordinate with internal legal teams for follow-up actions, supplements, or additional filings post-interview.
- Support coverage across multiple USCIS offices within assigned regions, including regular travel.
- Ensure adherence to internal processes, documentation standards, and case tracking requirements.
Requirements
- Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an ABA-accredited law school and active bar membership in good standing.
- Prior experience in litigation, mock trial, moot court, depositions, or advocacy-focused legal work is strongly preferred.
- Strong communication skills to assist clients in sensitive and emotional situations.
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to follow structured legal processes and detailed instructions.
- Familiarity with case management systems and legal documentation tools is preferred.
- Interest or background in immigration law is highly valued.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with attention to accuracy and clarity.
- Proficiency with standard office tools such as MS Word, MS Excel, and email platforms.
- Bilingual English/Spanish skills are a plus but not required.
