Overview
A law firm specializing in workers' compensation litigation defense is seeking a full-time Legal Assistant to join their team in Orange County. This role involves close collaboration with attorneys and managing their daily activities.
Responsibilities
- Provide administrative and clerical support to one or more attorneys and the Office Supervisor
- Prepare correspondence and simple to moderately complex legal documents
- Schedule medical appointments
- Proofread documents for spelling and grammar accuracy
- Organize and maintain files
- Screen telephone calls and visitors
- Read and respond to mail
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- ABA-approved paralegal certificate or Bachelor's Degree
- Minimum of two years' experience in workers' compensation
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Highly organized with attention to detail
- Proficiency in MS Word
- Typing speed of at least 50 words per minute
- Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality
Work Environment
- Mental: Requires clear and conceptual thinking, excellent judgment, problem-solving skills, discretion, ability to handle work-related stress, manage multiple priorities, and meet deadlines
- Physical: Computer keyboarding and travel as required
- Auditory/Visual: Hearing, vision, and speaking abilities necessary
