Associate Attorney

Overview

The organization is seeking Associates to join the First Party Insurance Practice Group in Austin.

This role focuses on first-party insurance litigation, including defending clients in bad faith matters and managing a full docket from inception through resolution.

Responsibilities

• Take primary responsibility for an active first-party litigation docket from inception through resolution.
• Handle matters through all phases of litigation while receiving assistance, support, and strategic guidance from managing partners and other attorneys as needed.
• Defend first-party bad faith lawsuits involving:
  • Commercial Property, Business Income, and other commercial coverages
  • Residential property
  • Uninsured/Underinsured Motorist (UM/UIM) coverage
  • Stowers, excess judgment, and other coverage disputes
• Develop and execute litigation strategy in partnership with sophisticated client representatives from large, national insurance carriers.
• Build strong client relationships through exceptional communication, responsiveness, and results.

Requirements

• Active license to practice law in Texas.
• 2–7 years of first-party insurance litigation experience, preferably in property coverages.
• Excellent legal research, writing, litigation strategy, and litigation advocacy skills.
• Extensive experience drafting pleadings, motions, written discovery, and client reporting in insurance disputes.
• Experience with depositions, hearing attendance, settlement discussions, and all other aspects of litigation through final resolution.
• Strong organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
• Proactive mindset and confidence to take the lead in files while valuing collaboration with colleagues.

Preferred Qualifications

• Property coverage experience within first-party insurance litigation.

Compensation

• Target base salary starting at $145,000–$180,000, commensurate with experience.
