Associate Attorney, San Antonio

Overview

A consumer protection law firm specializing in representing clients who have been harassed or deceived by creditors and debt collectors is seeking a full-time Associate Attorney to join their practice in Texas. The firm is based in the Financial District of New York City but this position is remote, requiring communication with the main office via telephone and electronic means.

Responsibilities

• Manage and supervise a heavy and diverse caseload of clients in Texas
• Communicate with clients regarding their legal matters
• Draft pleadings, motions, legal memoranda, and review and draft agreements
• Negotiate and communicate with opposing parties to resolve or settle claims
• Conduct legal research on contract law and other consumer law issues
• Travel may be required for court appearances

Requirements

• Admission to practice law in Texas is mandatory; multiple-state admission is a plus
• Minimum of 1 year of relevant law firm experience
• Strong organizational and time-management skills to meet deadlines
• Excellent written and oral communication skills
• High ethical standards and professional integrity
• Strong interpersonal skills to work effectively with senior management and colleagues
• Proficient legal research skills; experience with LexisNexis is a plus
• Candidates must currently reside in or near the San Antonio, Texas area

Compensation and Benefits

• Annual salary of $90,000, commensurate with experience
