This role is remote-eligible and may require occasional onsite meetings.

Responsibilities

• Research legal issues presented by parties during litigation.
• Advise judges on research results and assist in developing an appropriate course of action in the case.
• Write the first draft of opinions issued by the court.
• Review documents and pleadings filed with the court as assigned by individual judges.
• Compile information gained from research on particular issues in a case.
• Maintain district law library materials, including book, CD-ROM, and electronic research subscriptions, in more than one location.
• Recommend library materials for research and reference purposes.
• Authorize the use of research materials or the district’s law library to those other than district judges.
• Attend meetings and training as required.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Responsibilities (Additional Details)

• No formal supervisory responsibility. Work focuses on responsibility for one’s own work product and working within a unit performing similar functions.
• Rarely provides lead function, advice, or explains work instructions to other employees or volunteers.

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited law school.
• Possession of a certificate of admission to the Bar of the State of Colorado.
• Eligibility to practice law before the courts of the State of Colorado.

Physical Demands

• Regularly required to sit, reach with hands and arms, and talk or hear.
• Occasionally required to walk.
• Occasional use of hands and arms to perform repetitive motions.
• Occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
• Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.
• Specific vision abilities required: close vision, distance vision, color vision, and ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment

• Occasionally handles emergency or crisis situations.
• Frequently subject to interruptions, and multiple calls and inquiries.
• Noise level is usually quiet.
