Remote Insurance Defense Paralegal

Overview

This role involves providing experienced virtual paralegal support to law firms, specializing in various practice areas and states across the U.S. Paralegals serve as the primary point of contact for assigned clients, working independently while receiving support from an Account Supervisor. The position requires delivering high-quality, timely legal assistance tailored to client needs and preferences.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the main contact for assigned law firm clients, managing communications and understanding client-specific requirements.
• Perform tasks and projects as assigned by clients, ensuring accuracy and timely completion.
• Maintain consistent, proactive communication with clients and Account Supervisors.
• Enter time daily using provided tools and respond to communications within agreed response times.
• Maintain detailed and up-to-date client profiles.
• Manage high-volume email inboxes, prioritize communications, and draft responses.
• Monitor and track approximately 140 active insurance claims, maintaining accurate records and status updates.
• Conduct factual and legal research using AI-powered legal tools.
• Assist with monitoring and reporting on AI-related workflows within an insurance claims environment.
• Develop and improve standard operating procedures (SOPs), workflows, and organizational systems.
• Support calendar management, meeting coordination, and special projects as needed.
• Recommend and assist with implementation of case management software and other productivity tools.

Requirements

• Minimum of 3 years of paralegal experience or equivalent legal industry background.
• Exceptional attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
• Strong written communication abilities.
• Experience conducting legal research.
• Comfortable learning and utilizing AI-powered legal tools.
• Ability to work independently and proactively identify solutions.
• U.S.-based candidate.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with legal AI platforms and databases.
• Familiarity with AI tools such as ChatGPT, Claude, or similar.
• Background in insurance defense, insurance coverage, or claims-related work.
• Experience implementing systems, workflows, or operational improvements.
• Case management software experience.

Compensation & Benefits

• This is a 1099 independent contractor position.
• Paralegal work is compensated at a minimum of $28 per hour, depending on client plan size, practice area, and need.
• Legal assistant work is compensated at $20 per hour.
• Hours are approximately 80 per month to start, with potential for growth.
• Schedule is flexible, with preference for availability during Pacific Time business hours.
