Overview

This role involves serving as the primary legal point of contact for the go-to-market (GTM) team, negotiating a variety of commercial contracts including customer agreements, data processing agreements (DPAs), order forms, partner and reseller agreements, vendor contracts, and non-disclosure agreements (NDAs). The position requires independently managing priority commercial work and knowing when to escalate issues.

As an early member of the legal team, the successful candidate will help establish scalable legal infrastructure such as playbooks, templates, contract automation, AI-assisted review and drafting, earlier product counseling, and more mature privacy and compliance operations. The role is suited for someone interested in building an AI-native legal function.

Responsibilities

  • Draft, review, and negotiate commercial contracts including SaaS customer agreements, order forms, DPAs, partner and channel agreements, vendor contracts, and NDAs.
  • Manage deals end-to-end as the legal point of contact, coordinating with finance, security, product, and engineering teams as needed.
  • Maintain and improve standard legal tools such as master service agreements (MSAs), DPAs, NDAs, statements of work (SOWs), negotiation playbooks, and self-service processes to enable sales to handle routine contracts without legal delays.
  • Design and implement AI and automation workflows for contract intake, review, and drafting.
  • Train and support GTM and cross-functional teams to embed sound legal judgment into business operations from the outset.

Requirements

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree and active bar admission in good standing in at least one U.S. jurisdiction.
  • Minimum of 5 years of commercial transactional legal experience, either in-house or at a law firm, with significant expertise in SaaS and technology agreements.
  • Proven ability to independently manage commercial deals through to signature without extensive supervision.
  • Strong legal operations skills, including experience building or improving contracting processes, focusing on process, templates, and automation.
  • Sound business judgment with pragmatic contract negotiation skills and the ability to frame legal risks in actionable business terms.
  • Fluency in privacy requirements related to commercial contracting, including DPAs, data-handling terms, and cross-border data transfer obligations.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, capable of clearly translating legal issues for business stakeholders.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, lean team environment with ownership of outcomes and problem-solving responsibilities.
