Overview

A senior legal counsel position is available focusing on oncology and specialty physician practice management businesses, including a large physician practice management organization and its recently acquired management services organization. This role supports over 45 physician practices with more than 1,400 physicians and an oncology practice with over 270 physicians across 90 locations.

This is a remote position with hub locations in Atlanta, GA; Columbus, OH; and Dallas, TX.

Responsibilities

  • Provide day-to-day legal support for practice management businesses in a complex healthcare environment.
  • Advise on healthcare regulatory matters including Anti-Kickback Statute (AKS), Stark Law, False Claims Act (FCA), CMS, and state regulations related to physician practice arrangements.
  • Collaborate with operations teams to grow and improve the performance of physician practice networks.
  • Work with information and technology teams to enhance data governance and analytics capabilities.
  • Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of agreements.
  • Coordinate with other attorneys and compliance professionals across various specialties such as litigation, labor and employment, intellectual property, data privacy, security, and healthcare fraud and abuse laws.
  • Engage regularly with internal stakeholders across functional groups supporting the practice management business.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 7 years of relevant legal experience focused on healthcare in a corporate legal department or law firm advising healthcare provider clients.
  • Significant experience with healthcare fraud and abuse laws, transactions, and contract negotiations.
  • Juris Doctor degree with excellent academic credentials.
  • Membership in a state bar in good standing.
  • Authorization to work in the US; sponsorship is not available.

  • Expertise in transaction and commercial contract drafting and negotiation.
  • Knowledge of payer, regulatory, compliance, privacy, and licensure issues at federal and state levels related to physician practices.
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills with strong attention to detail.
  • Strong business acumen for handling high-stakes negotiations, risk analysis, and organizational priorities.
  • Flexibility to handle a broad variety of legal matters.
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple projects efficiently.
  • Proactive problem-solving approach.
