Accountant (Legal Billing)

Overview

The organization is hiring a Legal Billing Specialist to support a family law practice by ensuring accurate, timely billing and maintaining reliable client trust account records. Flexible work arrangements are available, including remote, on-site, or hybrid options.

Location: Greater Seattle Area / Pacific NW Region strongly preferred.

Fully remote may be available outside these areas, depending on candidate credentials and ability to support core office hours.

Responsibilities

• Ensure timely and accurate client billing
• Ensure client trust accounts are up to date and accurate
• Collaborate with collections staff to help support healthy cash flow metrics
• Provide excellent customer service and communicate with tact and empathy when discussing billing with clients in difficult personal situations
• Identify opportunities to improve and support firm operations and initiatives
• Participate in cross-training and serve as backup for a variety of accounting functions

Requirements

• Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business preferred
• 5+ years of experience in accounting or legal billing (legal billing strongly preferred)
• Experience with complex reconciliations
• Intermediate Excel skills (formulas, filtering, sorting, pivot tables)
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with tact and empathy for clients in difficult personal situations

Compensation & Benefits

• Full salary range: $30/hour–$45/hour ($62,400–$93,600 annual)
• Expected hiring range: $30–$41/hour (commensurate with experience)
• Eligible for discretionary annual bonus
