Associate Attorney, Fairfax, VA

Overview

The organization is seeking a full-time Associate Attorney to support its consumer protection practice. This role is remote, with responsibilities focused on Virginia.

Because the firm’s headquarters are in New York, this position requires communicating with the main office exclusively via telephone and electronic means (e-mail, Microsoft Teams, etc.).

Candidates must be located in or within a commutable distance to Fairfax, Virginia to be considered for this role.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and supervise a heavy and diversified caseload for clients in Virginia
• Communicate with clients regarding their respective matters
• Draft pleadings, motions, and legal memoranda; review and draft agreements as needed
• Communicate with opposing parties to resolve and/or settle claims
• Conduct legal research on simple and complex issues in contract law and other areas of consumer law
• Based from home, travel for in-court appearances

Requirements

• Currently admitted to practice law in Virginia
• Minimum of 1 year of relevant experience at a law firm
• Superior organizational and time-management skills to meet strict deadlines
• Exceptional written and oral communication skills
• Highest ethical standards and professional integrity
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively with senior management and employees at all levels
• Strong legal research skills; proficiency in LexisNexis is a plus
