The position involves partnering with business leaders, Compliance, and the broader global Legal team to provide clear legal judgment and take ownership of decisions that support business growth.

The organization is remote-first, with quarterly in-person working sessions called “surges.”

Responsibilities

  • Advise regional operating entities on new products and services, intercompany arrangements, commercial relationships, banking partnerships, and retail and institutional terms of business.
  • Guide product launches, market expansion, and marketing initiatives across jurisdictions, coordinating with the US-based Legal team and other regional counsel.
  • Monitor European and international legal and policy developments, explain business implications, and support advocacy for effective digital asset regulation.
  • Assess legal and regulatory risks, recommend practical solutions, and improve processes to support a growing international business.
  • Manage outside counsel on specialist matters and projects, maintaining internal expertise and accountability for advice delivered.

Requirements

  • Qualified lawyer in the UK, Ireland, France, or Luxembourg with 7+ years’ relevant experience advising regulated EU e-money, payment services, or financial services institutions, either in-house or at a law firm.
  • Strong knowledge of EU financial services regulation, including PSD2, the Second Electronic Money Directive, and/or MiFID II.
  • Digital asset expertise, including MiCAR registration regimes, is strongly preferred.
  • Experience engaging with European financial services regulators, particularly the CSSF or Central Bank of Ireland, is preferred.
  • Ability to manage complex projects across functions and time zones, meet tight deadlines, and drive decisions with limited supervision.
  • Sound legal judgment, analytical rigor, and commercial pragmatism.
  • Excellent writing skills and ability to deliver concise, actionable advice to executives.
  • Ability to prioritize a varied workload, work independently under regulatory scrutiny, and build processes that improve legal support (previous in-house experience is preferred).
  • Demonstrated ability to responsibly use generative AI tools and copilots (e.g., LibreChat, Gemini, Glean) in daily workflows; continuously learn as tools evolve; apply human-in-the-loop practices to deliver business-ready outputs and drive measurable improvements in efficiency, cost, and quality.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Annual base salary range (excluding equity and bonus): €184.000—€184.000 EUR
  • Total compensation may include equity and bonus eligibility and benefits (including medical, dental, and vision).
