Overview

This role involves joining the Workers’ Compensation Legal team for an Attorney (Attorney III or Attorney levels) in the Oxnard Legal unit. The position focuses on defending California’s insured employers and state agencies and supporting litigation efforts in the workers’ compensation system.

The Oxnard Legal unit appears at Workers’ Compensation Appeals Board (WCAB) district offices in Oxnard, Santa Barbara, and San Luis Obispo, with occasional appearances at other WCAB offices and locations.

Responsibilities

Draft pleadings, conduct discovery, and negotiate settlements
Skillfully negotiate and draft settlements
Make court appearances, including trials
Analyze orthopedic and other medical reports to build strong cases

Requirements

Must be licensed to practice law in California
Experienced candidates at the Attorney III level or newly admitted candidates at the Attorney level
No prior workers’ compensation experience required for Attorney (new to workers’ comp is acceptable)

Compensation & Benefits

Salary: $10,852 - $15,325 per Month

(New to the organization candidates will be hired into the minimum salary of the classification or minimum of alternate range when applicable.)

Location

Oxnard, CA (Oxnard Legal unit appearances at WCAB district offices in Oxnard, Santa Barbara, and San Luis Obispo)
Additional occasional appearances at other WCAB offices and locations
To facilitate local in-person hearings, candidates should be located within Ventura County, Los Angeles County, and Kern County
Reimbursement for local travel will be provided within the allowable mile radius
