Employment Practices Liability Claim Associate

Overview

This remote role is for a Specialty Claim Associate to join the Specialty Liability Claims team. The position supports challenging Employment Practices Liability (EPL) claims, working at the intersection of workplace disputes and legal considerations. Collaboration with external legal experts and policyholders is central to resolving sensitive matters such as discrimination and harassment allegations.

The role also supports other products, including Miscellaneous Professional Liability, Contractor’s Errors & Omissions, and Cyber Liability.

Responsibilities

• Handle Employment Practices Liability claims, including coverage and liability-focused assessments.
• Prepare complete, accurate, and timely coverage assessments and letters.
• Conduct liability and damage investigations and evaluations for complex EPL insurance policies.
• Establish, document, and execute strategies aimed at early and cost-effective resolution of assigned claims.
• Collaborate with external legal experts and internal stakeholders to manage sensitive claims.
• Build and maintain productive relationships with internal and external customers, clients, underwriters, and agents.
• Demonstrate consistent claim handling practices across investigation, coverage, loss assessment, and case management.
• Review and manage litigation activities, including managing panel counsel and litigation guidelines.
• Review law firm billing as part of claim management.

Requirements

• College degree required.
• Law degree preferred.
• At least 2+ years of Employment Practices Liability claims and litigated claims management.
• Experience managing panel counsel and litigation guidelines.
• Experience reviewing law firm billing.
• Experience with other claims-made professional/management liability lines, such as:
  • Miscellaneous Professional Liability
  • Contractor’s Errors & Omissions
  • D&O
  • Cyber Liability

Knowledge And Skills

• Strong working knowledge of Employment Practices Liability exposures and employment law concepts.
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to interact effectively with internal and external contacts at all levels.
• Ability to evaluate, analyze, and interpret technical information with sound critical thinking and decision-making.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills to explain complex issues clearly and professionally.
• Flexibility and willingness to work in a fast-paced, rapidly changing environment.
• Strong organization and time management skills.

Compensation & Benefits

• Base salary range: $80,000 - $115,000.
• Opportunity for a company bonus based upon a percentage of eligible pay.
• Salary estimate adjustments may reflect varying market conditions across different locations; factors may include skills, years of experience, and comparison to other employees already in the role.
