English to Chinese (Simplified and/or Traditional) - Legal (Judiciary) Translator and /or Editor

Overview

This is a remote freelance/contract position providing English-to-Chinese (Simplified and/or Traditional) legal translation and/or editing services.

The engagement is ongoing and as-needed, based on assignment availability.

Responsibilities

• Translate and/or edit legal documentation from English to Chinese (Simplified and/or Traditional)
• Apply U.S. legal, judicial, and technical terminology accurately in both languages
• Deliver high-quality work remotely with strong written accuracy
• Manage assignments to meet deadlines

Requirements

• Minimum of three years of professional experience providing legal translation and/or editing services
• Native-level Chinese and English writing skills
• Demonstrated knowledge of U.S. legal, judicial, and technical terminology in English and Chinese
• Bachelor’s degree in a foreign language, linguistics, translation, or a comparable field
• Experience using computer-assisted translation tools; Trados experience is preferred
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
• Ability to meet deadlines

Security and Citizenship Requirements

• Applicants must be U.S. citizens
• Willingness to complete security clearance processing, including fingerprinting, if selected

Availability

• Generally available between 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. Eastern Time on most weekdays
• Able to accept on-demand assignments totaling approximately 10 to 15 hours per week, as needed
