Overview

A CA-barred litigation associate is needed to join a DC/AZ law firm that initiates lawsuits for defendant companies across consumer protection and complex litigation matters.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate closely on demand letter preparation, reviewing drafts for statutory accuracy, factual citations, theory alignment, terms of service (ToS) conformity, and state coverage before letters are sent at scale.
  • QA notice batches and manage claimant communications prior to sending.
  • Partner with co-counsel to run plaintiff-side mass arbitration campaigns end-to-end, including pre-suit demands, notices of dispute, AAA/JAMS filings, IDRs, and settlement negotiations.
  • Serve as a substantive authority on case strategy, redlines, and filings.
  • Evaluate and validate new case theories across consumer protection, privacy, UDTP, data breach, false advertising, and other complex litigation verticals.
  • Help refine the case evaluation playbook by designing the framework, running reviews, and codifying it for scale and repeatability.
  • Work cross-functionally with Legal Ops, Data, and Engineering teams to improve case pipelines and demand letter quality.

Requirements

  • JD and active bar membership in at least one U.S. jurisdiction (preferably CA).
  • Approximately 5 years of complex litigation experience at a reputable law firm (Big Law or a well-regarded complex litigation/plaintiffs’ boutique).
  • Strong attention to detail and comfort performing deep, careful review of legal drafts.
  • Tech-inclined and comfortable using AI tools, legal tooling, and automation to move faster.
  • Deadline-driven, organized, and pragmatic; able to make decisions quickly without losing rigor.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Direct experience with one or more of the following: consumer protection, UDTP, privacy/wiretapping, data breach, or false advertising.
  • Mass arbitration experience is not required.
