A major early priority is responding to an increasing volume of privacy questions, including as one newer product evolves and requires practical, repeatable guidance delivered at scale.

- Provide GDPR and data compliance vetting, including establishing processes for responding to customer security questionnaires.
- Support product lifecycle initiatives and feature releases, with particular attention to privacy/data-use considerations across an interconnected ecosystem of products.
- Develop “what’s on deck” visibility for upcoming legal needs by assessing active initiatives and recurring requests.
Requirements
- Deep expertise in data, compliance, and product.
- Strong ability to navigate U.S. and European data privacy laws (e.g., GDPR, CCPA), including familiarity with data controller vs. processor distinctions and how they influence vendor and product decisions.
- Ability to translate privacy and compliance requirements into scalable playbooks, templates, intake processes, and self-service guidance.
- Experience supporting customer security questionnaires and partnering effectively with security, sales, product, and engineering teams.
- Familiarity with SOC 2 Type II and the legal, privacy, and customer requirements associated with it (direct ownership of a certification process not required).
- Understanding of intellectual property law, especially related to brand, content, and software.
- Understanding of commercial contracts; ability to serve as the go-to person for these matters.
- Clear communicator and trusted advisor who can simplify complexity and help others make informed decisions.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience as in-house counsel at a tech company, or experience supporting a tech portfolio at a top-tier firm known for startup work (e.g., Fenwick & West, Cooley).
