Overview

This independent contractor role supports a high-volume legal outsourcing workflow focused on initial review and verification of commercial contracts. Work is performed 100% remote, on a fixed schedule aligned to Eastern Standard Time (EST).

You will report to the Manager, Senior Review Team and will collaborate with an AI-assisted first-pass review process. Your work ensures that every contract leaving the review stage meets required standards before handoff to quality control for final sign-off.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct initial review of a high-volume pipeline of commercial agreements, including NDAs, master services agreements, and vendor arrangements.
  • Perform rapid turnaround while strictly adhering to client-specific legal playbooks.
  • Review and verify AI-generated first-pass markups, correcting as needed using your own legal judgment.
  • Apply legal playbooks accurately and consistently; escalate items outside established guidance to quality control rather than deciding independently.
  • Identify and flag confidentiality and commercial risks within standard transactions, including spotting non-standard terms before escalation to quality control.
  • Maintain accurate ticket status and ensure clean handoffs across shifts so turnaround remains on track.
  • Manage a demanding, high-volume queue in a fast-paced review environment, balancing accuracy and speed.

Requirements

  • 4+ years of experience in legal contract review, including hands-on NDA review under US or UK law.
  • Strong background in high-volume commercial contract review environments.
  • Demonstrated ability to work accurately from detailed legal playbooks and client-specific instructions, escalating anything outside established guidance rather than deciding it independently.
  • Genuine interest in AI and legal technology, with comfort using AI tools daily as part of everyday legal work.
  • Fluent in both written and spoken legal English, with a strong command of legal terminology and language.
  • Ability to operate independently in a 100% remote environment on a fixed schedule.

Preferred Qualifications

  • LL.M. from a U.S. or UK institution (preferred but not required).

Compensation & Benefits

  • Independent contractor position (compensation details not provided in the source description).

Location
