This Operational Staff Attorney role reviews immigration applications and related filings under close supervision and guidance from senior attorneys. Responsibilities include supporting clients with document preparation and family reunification goals through attorney-of-record assignments, client communications, and emergency hearing coverage when needed. The attorney follows approved instructions, templates, and legal strategy, completes assigned review tasks accurately and on time, and escalates non-standard legal issues to senior attorneys.

  • Evaluate assigned filings and supporting evidence for accuracy, completeness, consistency, and alignment with case strategy; identify, track, and make necessary edits before submission.
  • Coordinate corrections and requests for additional information with appropriate team members; confirm that identified issues are resolved and required attorney review is completed before filing.
  • Speak with clients to answer questions about their cases (generally through an interpreter); explain next steps clearly and document material communications in the case record.
  • Attend master calendar hearings in immigration court only when emergency coverage is needed, with preparation and substantive guidance from senior attorneys as appropriate.
  • Meet established daily goals for attorney review tasks based on team assignments while maintaining required accuracy, legal review, and professional judgment.
  • Monitor assigned filing and hearing deadlines, prioritize work, communicate status and obstacles, and escalate risks that could affect timely completion.
  • Maintain organized case records, review notes, and documentation of legal decisions; protect confidential client information and incorporate senior attorney feedback into subsequent work.
