Overview

This role supports the Product Legal team, responsible for managing the legal and regulatory elements of product design, build, and execution. The position involves advising product, engineering, and partnerships stakeholders on a broad range of matters spanning financial services, business processes, and technology—particularly as they relate to artificial intelligence and consumer-facing product development.

Responsibilities

  • Counsel the global product team on legal issues relating to the adoption of artificial intelligence across all facets of the business, including:
    • Data protection and privacy law
    • Consumer protection
    • Product development
  • Collaborate across functional teams (including engineering, partnerships, privacy, and security) to provide pragmatic, actionable legal advice throughout the product development lifecycle—from initial scoping through launch.
  • Draft, review, and update internal and external-facing foundational terms and documents for product and service offerings.
  • Stay current on laws and regulations governing consumer financial data access; analyze legal and regulatory updates and industry trends to proactively advise on potential product impacts.
  • Act as a proactive business partner by providing key legal and strategic input to support evolving product roadmap and strategy.

Requirements (Minimum)

  • 8+ years of demonstrated experience as either:
    • A qualified lawyer at a top law firm, or
    • In-house legal team experience working with technology companies (ideally focused on the law applicable to cloud-based API service providers)
    • Experience must include legal and regulatory work related to product development in the technology space.
  • Passion for working with technology, with the ability to understand complex operational and business models and multiple product use cases quickly.
  • Self-starter mindset with strong self-learning ability; able to manage multiple workstreams and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Owner’s mindset and high judgment, making principled, business-enabling decisions in highly ambiguous, fast-moving situations with incomplete information.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills; ability to work cross-functionally with urgency while maintaining a collaborative approach.
  • Excellent project management and organizational skills; ability to stay on top of shifting priorities and thrive under tight deadlines.
  • Expertise in the legal, commercial, and regulatory dynamics of AI and tech services, including command of global data privacy regimes (e.g., GDPR, CCPA).
  • Strategic thinking that enables business partners to make decisions grounded in a practical application of the law, technology, and business goals.
