Remote Litigation Paralegal (Independent Contractor)

• Location: Remote — Colombia
• Work arrangement: Fully remote, full-time — 9:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m. U.S. Eastern Time
• Compensation: $10–$12 USD per hour

The role supports a U.S.-based law firm’s personal injury litigation practice. Work is performed under U.S. attorney supervision, with escalation of legal decisions to U.S.-licensed counsel.

Responsibilities

• Support the Personal Injury Litigation Attorney with case management, including tracking open tasks and maintaining case calendars.
• Assist with discovery, including records requests and related documentation.
• Prepare filings, pleadings, and litigation correspondence, including coordination for service of process.
• Track and monitor affidavits of service, court deadlines, and case milestones.
• Request, organize, and track medical records and billing statements; follow up with providers.
• Prepare medical treatment and billing summaries and identify missing documentation to maintain complete case files.
• Conduct lien lookups and coordinate Medicaid requests as needed.
• Track medical liens, balances, and settlement obligations.
• Prepare settlement distribution statements and closing documents for attorney review.
• Communicate with clients, providers, insurers, opposing offices, process servers, and government agencies.
• Draft routine correspondence and follow up on outstanding documents and requests.
• Maintain electronic files, case notes, calendars, and expense records.
• Assist with administrative tasks related to litigation, including filings, service fees, and incoming correspondence.

Requirements

• 5+ years of relevant legal experience.
• Law degree from a recognized university in Mexico or another Latin American country (licensed attorneys encouraged to apply).
• Advanced written and spoken English proficiency (subject to confirmation).
• Strong skills in legal research, drafting, organization, document review, and deadline management.
• Ability to manage multiple cases independently and provide accurate case status updates.
• Reliable internet and a private workspace, with strong commitment to confidentiality and information security.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with a U.S. law firm, personal injury litigation, or civil litigation.
• Knowledge of discovery, pleadings, court filings, service of process, and litigation calendars (Georgia procedure experience is a plus).
• Experience with medical records, billing, liens, and settlement documentation.
• Familiarity with MyCase or similar case-management software.
