Senior Counsel, Product Legal

Overview

A leading organization in the Finance & Insurance sector is seeking a Senior Counsel Product Legal to join their team. This role involves providing legal guidance and strategic advice for product development within the crypto and fintech space. The position offers significant visibility, opportunities for growth, and the chance to impact product outcomes.

Location: Remote (U.S. based candidates only; no visa sponsorship available)

Compensation: $224,995 – $264,700 annually

Responsibilities

• Serve as a key member of a top-tier crypto product legal team embedded within the Developer group
• Provide legal, business, and strategic advice during daily product team operations
• Counsel throughout the full product life cycle, from ideation to sunset phases
• Navigate and advise on domestic and international legal issues related to products
• Collaborate with legal colleagues to resolve unfamiliar or complex issues
• Work cross-functionally to engage appropriate stakeholders in legal discussions
• Respond promptly to diverse legal requests from product teams and ensure effective delivery of advice

Requirements

• Licensed to practice law in a U.S. state with a J.D. or equivalent degree
• Minimum of 7 years of legal experience, preferably in-house within consumer technology or fintech firms
• Experience counseling product teams on launching technology products with a strong understanding of relevant legal frameworks
• Strong interest in digital currency, blockchain technology, and decentralized application innovations
• Familiarity with global laws related to payments, internet technology, cryptocurrencies, money transmission, and banking regulations
• Excellent problem-solving, communication, interpersonal skills, and demonstrated sound legal judgment

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with consumer technology, fintech, or crypto/blockchain products
• Expertise in payments and technology infrastructure
• Background in B2B product development
• Knowledge of blockchain technology, decentralized applications (dApps), and Web3 technologies
• Familiarity with data analytics tools and risk assessment frameworks
• Understanding of international regulatory compliance
