Assistant Vice President, Employment Counsel (Remote)

Overview

A financial services organization is seeking an Assistant Vice President Employment Counsel to join their team remotely within the United States (no visa sponsorship available). This role focuses on leading initiatives that combine scalable technology, AI-enabled capabilities, and business transformation. The position involves partnering with executive leadership and cross-functional teams to enhance planning processes, financial discipline, and scalable operations, influencing enterprise performance and long-term financial strategy in a regulated environment.

Responsibilities

• Draft and revise offer letters, employment agreements, and separation agreements
• Advise Human Resources on performance management and wage-related issues
• Provide training on employment law updates to HR and Talent teams
• Collaborate on the development of HR policies and procedures
• Assist with pre-litigation employment matters and manage outside counsel
• Serve as a trusted advisor on employee-related risk management strategies

Requirements

• Juris Doctor (JD) degree required; Doctorate in Law preferred
• 4 to 7 years of experience in labor and employment law, preferably within a corporate legal department or a recognized law firm
• Licensed to practice law in at least one U.S. state; preference for Texas, New York, or California
• Expertise in drafting and interpreting restrictive covenants
• Strong verbal and written communication skills with high attention to detail

Preferred Skills and Experience

• Experience with legal research tools such as Westlaw or LexisNexis
• Familiarity with document management systems like NetDocuments or iManage
• Knowledge of HR management software such as Workday or BambooHR

Compensation and Benefits

• Annual salary range: $140,000 – $190,000
