This organization is seeking a full-time Associate Attorney to join its consumer protection practice in Florida. The role involves representing consumers who have been harassed or otherwise deceived by creditors and debt collectors, including transactional and civil litigation matters.

Because the organization’s headquarters are in New York, day-to-day coordination with the main office is handled exclusively via telephone and electronic means.

Candidates should be within commutable distance or currently located in Boca Raton, FL to be considered for this role.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and supervise a heavy and diversified caseload of clients in Florida
• Communicate with clients regarding their respective matters
• Draft pleadings, motions, and legal memoranda; review and draft agreements, etc.
• Communicate with opposing parties to resolve and/or settle claims
• Conduct legal research on simple and complex issues in contract law and other areas of consumer law
• While working from home, may be required to travel for in-court appearances

Requirements

• Currently admitted to practice law in Florida
• Minimum 1 year of relevant experience at a law firm
• Superior organizational and time-management skills to meet strict deadlines
• Exceptional written and oral communication skills
• Highest ethical standards and professional integrity
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively with senior management and employees at all levels
• Strong legal research skills (proficiency in LexisNexis is a plus)
