Associate Attorney, Mississippi

Overview

A consumer protection law firm specializing in representing clients who have been harassed or deceived by creditors and debt collectors is seeking a full-time Associate Attorney. The firm is based in the Financial District of New York City but this position is for practice in Mississippi, with remote work and communication primarily via telephone and electronic means.

Responsibilities

• Manage and supervise a heavy and diversified caseload of clients in Mississippi.
• Communicate regularly with clients regarding their legal matters.
• Draft pleadings, motions, legal memoranda, and review and draft agreements.
• Negotiate and communicate with opposing parties to resolve or settle claims.
• Conduct legal research on contract law and other consumer law issues.
• Travel may be required for court appearances despite the remote nature of the role.

Requirements

• Admission to practice law in Mississippi is mandatory.
• Minimum of 1 year of relevant law firm experience.
• Strong organizational and time-management skills to meet strict deadlines.
• Exceptional written and oral communication abilities.
• High ethical standards and professional integrity.
• Strong interpersonal skills to work effectively with senior management and colleagues.
• Proficiency in legal research; experience with LexisNexis is a plus.
• Candidates should be currently located in or near the Biloxi, Mississippi area.
