Associate Attorney, Springfield, IL

Compensation: $90,000 / year

The organization is seeking a full-time Associate Attorney to join its practice focused on consumer protection. Responsibilities include managing a heavy, diversified caseload and handling a range of consumer-protection matters, including transactional work and civil litigation.

This role is based remotely. Because the organization’s main office is in New York, communication with the main office will be conducted exclusively via telephone and electronic means (e.g., email, Microsoft Teams, etc.).

Candidates should be located in or within a commutable distance to Springfield, IL to be considered for this role.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and supervise a heavy and diversified caseload of the organization’s clients in Illinois.
• Communicate with clients regarding their respective matters.
• Draft pleadings, motions, legal memoranda; review and draft agreements, etc.
• Communicate with opposing parties to resolve and/or settle claims.
• Conduct legal research on simple and complex issues in contract law and other areas of consumer law.
• While working from home, travel for in-court appearances.

Requirements

• Currently admitted to practice law in Illinois.
• Minimum of 1 year of relevant experience at a law firm.
• Superior organizational and time-management skills to meet strict deadlines.
• Exceptional written and oral communication skills.
• Highest ethical standards and professional integrity.
• Strong interpersonal skills; ability to work easily with senior management and employees at all levels.
• Strong legal research skills; proficiency in LexisNexis is a plus.
