This role is for a full-time Associate Attorney to support a consumer protection law practice representing consumers who have been harassed or otherwise deceived by creditors and debt collectors. Responsibilities include handling a heavy, diversified caseload and working on matters across consumer protection, including transactional and civil litigation.

Position eligibility: Candidates must be located in or within a commutable distance to Warren, MI to be considered.

Communication: While the work is remote, this position involves communicating with the main office in New York exclusively via telephone and electronic means (e-mail, Microsoft Teams, etc.).

Responsibilities

• Maintain and supervise a heavy & diversified caseload for clients in Michigan
• Communicate with clients regarding their respective matters
• Draft pleadings, motions, and legal memoranda
• Review and draft agreements
• Communicate with opposing parties to resolve and/or settle claims
• Conduct legal research related to simple and complex issues in contract law and other areas of consumer law
• While based from home, travel is required for in-court appearances

Requirements

• Currently admitted to practice law in Michigan
• Minimum of 1 year of relevant experience at a law firm
• Superior organizational and time-management skills to meet strict deadlines
• Exceptional written and oral communication skills
• Highest ethical standards and professional integrity
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively with senior management and employees at all levels throughout the organization
• Strong legal research skills (proficiency in LexisNexis is a plus)
