Associate Counsel – $200/hr Max

Overview

A contract opportunity is available for a Transactional or Regulatory Associate with compensation ranging from $180 to $200 per hour. This role involves collaborating with an advanced AI research lab to develop realistic evaluation benchmarks related to corporate transactions and regulatory matters.

Responsibilities

• Draft practitioner-level research questions focused on corporate transactions, securities regulation, administrative law, and compliance.
• Incorporate jurisdiction-specific statutory and regulatory interpretation.
• Frame complex legal issues requiring synthesis of statutory text, agency guidance, case law, and legislative history.
• Ensure research questions reflect real client matters rather than academic hypotheticals.
• Work closely with an AI research team to define realistic evaluation criteria.

Requirements

• 4 to 7+ years of law firm experience in transactional or regulatory practice.
• Strong expertise in statutory and regulatory interpretation.
• Experience researching federal and/or state regulatory frameworks.
• Ability to clearly scope and define legal issues for research purposes.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience interacting with regulatory agencies.
• Background in highly regulated industries such as financial services, healthcare, or energy.
• Prior involvement in legal technology or AI-related projects.
