Responsibilities

  • Advise on global privacy and data protection requirements, including cross-border data transfers, localized requirements, user terms, notices, privacy impact assessments, vendor contracts, and consent approaches.
  • Harmonize regional legal requirements into global standards with pragmatic country-level deviations to facilitate rapid expansion.
  • Collaborate with Regulatory Affairs and Product teams to align on regulatory pathways and compliance for new features and markets.
  • Develop, maintain, and promote scalable legal templates, guardrails, and playbooks to streamline international launches and reduce cycle times.
  • Manage multi-jurisdictional product launches, coordinate with outside counsel across regions, and consolidate country-specific advice into clear, actionable guidance for internal stakeholders.
  • Serve as primary contact and lead for regulatory authority inquiries, enforcement matters, risk considerations, and policy interpretation; coordinate strategy and communications with outside counsel as needed.
  • Advise on advertising and promotional compliance, substantiation requirements, and labeling to ensure alignment with regulatory clearances and consumer protection laws.
  • Provide counsel on global trade compliance including export controls (EAR/ITAR), sanctions/embargoes, customs/import classification (HTS), ECCN and dual-use analysis, restricted-party screening, and distributor/partner due diligence.
  • Support design, implementation, and maintenance of policies, training, and controls to enable prompt cross-border launches and supply chain resilience.
  • Drive legal program enablement by developing intake, triage, and review processes; clear escalation paths; and metrics demonstrating business enablement, compliance, and risk management.

Requirements

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree and good standing with at least one U.S. state bar or international equivalent in a common law jurisdiction.
  • Minimum 10 years of relevant legal experience, including advising on international expansion and global privacy and/or product regulatory matters.
  • Proven ability to counsel cross-functional teams (Product, Regulatory, Marketing, Sales, Engineering, Operations) in a fast-paced environment with pragmatic, business-focused guidance.
  • Strong working knowledge of major global privacy frameworks and cross-border transfer mechanisms.
  • Familiarity with international consumer and marketing law considerations.
  • Experience translating complex, multi-regional rules into actionable, product-ready requirements.
  • Experience building scalable legal processes such as templates, playbooks, and service level agreements.
  • Skilled in communicating with regulators and managing outside counsel across multiple regions.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, capable of simplifying complex legal concepts for executive and non-legal audiences.

Preferred Qualifications

  • In-house legal experience at a high-growth technology or consumer health company.
  • Exposure to wearable technologies, digital health, connected devices, and/or software-as-a-medical-device regulation.
  • Specific expertise supporting Latin America (LATAM) and/or Asia-Pacific (APAC) markets.

Personal Attributes

  • Business-enabling mindset with sound judgment and practical risk posture.
  • Collaborative and low-ego partner who builds trust quickly and communicates clearly.
  • Comfortable operating with ambiguity and bringing structure to evolving programs.
  • Proactive in monitoring regulatory developments and anticipating compliance requirements.
