Overview

A healthcare industry leader is seeking an Associate General Counsel specializing in Privacy to join their team remotely. This role focuses on providing business-aligned legal guidance related to governance, compliance, and operational risk management within the healthcare sector. The position involves partnering with leadership, compliance stakeholders, and cross-functional teams to translate complex privacy issues into practical recommendations that support responsible execution, improved decision-making, and sustainable growth.

Location: Remote (U.S. based candidates only, no visa sponsorship available)

Compensation: $134,600 – $230,800 annually

Responsibilities

  • Act as a trusted privacy advisor to various business lines with a focus on HIPAA compliance
  • Advise on regulatory changes and assist with implementing emerging privacy requirements
  • Design and operationalize privacy programs, including training and policy development
  • Provide privacy support for business contracts in collaboration with legal teams
  • Counsel the incident management team and lead responses to regulatory inquiries
  • Deliver regular, actionable privacy updates to leadership
  • Collaborate on privacy due diligence for acquisitions and integrations
  • Monitor legal and industry developments and provide practical guidance

Requirements

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree
  • Current license to practice law
  • Minimum of 5 years practicing law
  • At least 3 years of experience in a privacy legal environment
  • Experience in healthcare privacy law

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP) designation
  • Experience with LexisNexis
  • Experience working in fast-paced, matrixed environments
  • Familiarity with HIPAA compliance tools, data protection software, and contract management systems
