Associate General Counsel - U.S. Based Remote Opportunity

Overview

This role supports the Legal team by providing strategic legal advice and risk management to help drive organizational objectives. Responsibilities span compliance, intellectual property, data privacy, commercial contracts, legal operations, corporate governance, and litigation management, with day-to-day counseling for business partners.

Responsibilities

• Provide independent legal advice across a broad range of matters, including product and service offerings, deal structuring, drafting, and negotiating complex agreements
• Manage legal risk and ensure compliance across key operational areas (e.g., compliance, intellectual property, data privacy, commercial contracts, legal operations, corporate governance, or litigation management)
• Deliver day-to-day legal counseling to business stakeholders
• Support organizational growth and innovation by staying current on legal trends
• Provide strategic legal support and guidance aligned with organizational objectives

Requirements

• Must live in the United States
• Willing to travel to attend twice annual retreats
• 8-10 years of legal experience focused on one or more of the following:
  • compliance
  • intellectual property
  • data privacy
  • legal operations
  • corporate governance
  • litigation management
  • commercial contracts
• Juris Doctorate from an ABA-approved law school
• Active member of the Bar

• Subject matter expertise in one or more of the following areas, with demonstrated success applying it in a technology or non-profit environment:

• Strategic execution skills to translate complex legal concepts into actionable business advice that influences leadership and stakeholder outcomes
• Problem-solving approach focused on finding innovative risk-aware solutions
• Strong communication skills with the ability to tailor written and verbal communications to the audience and deliver direct, straightforward guidance
• Digital literacy and proficiency with digital tools for effective virtual collaboration and responsible, secure handling of data
• Diligence and adaptability, with attention to quality and flexibility when priorities or tasks change

Preferred Qualifications

• Additional certifications in relevant subject matter areas
• Passion for higher education (plus)

Compensation & Benefits

• Pay range: $160,960 - $181,080
• Performance-based bonus
