Claims and Litigation Specialist

Overview

Responsibilities

• Medical Malpractice Oversight: Lead strategy and investigation for complex professional liability and medical malpractice claims from initial report through final resolution.
• Litigation Management: Direct external defense counsel on case action plans, ensuring litigation follows organizational guidelines and protocols.
• Financial & Regulatory Reporting: Establish accurate loss reserves and execute National Claims Committee reports for significant, high-exposure matters.
• Direct Settlement Authority: Negotiate directly with plaintiff attorneys and represent the organization at mediations, trials, and depositions to pursue favorable settlements.
• Risk Mitigation: Collaborate with Risk Management to translate claim outcomes into “lessons learned” that improve patient safety and reduce future liability.

Requirements

• High School diploma equivalency with 2 years of cumulative experience, OR Associate’s degree/Bachelor’s degree with 1 year of experience, OR 5 years of applicable cumulative job-specific experience.
• Preferred: 2 years of leadership or management experience.
