Commercial Counsel

Overview

A digital gaming and entertainment organization is seeking a Commercial Counsel to provide legal support and guidance across multiple company functions, including senior management. The role involves broad legal responsibilities related to commercial matters such as drafting and negotiating master service agreements (MSAs), statements of work (SOWs), sponsorship and partnership agreements, marketing, media and affiliate agreements, product and technology agreements, and other commercial contracts. This position collaborates closely with teams in business technology and product, social/free-to-play games, marketing, finance, and operations.

Responsibilities

• Draft, review, and negotiate a variety of commercial agreements including MSAs, SOWs, sponsorships, partnerships, marketing, media, affiliate, product, and technology contracts
• Provide legal advice and support to senior management and cross-functional teams
• Manage a high volume of legal work independently
• Develop strong working relationships across the organization to deliver effective commercial solutions
• Address complex legal and regulatory issues related to the gaming and digital entertainment industry

Requirements

• Juris Doctor (JD) degree from a top U.S. law school
• Admission and good standing with one or more U.S. state bars
• Minimum of 3-5 years of legal experience focused on drafting and negotiating commercial agreements
• General familiarity with intellectual property concepts
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, including excellent legal drafting abilities
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines and multiple demands
• Experience in both law firm settings (reputable firms) and in-house roles within startups or large organizations
• Experience in digital online gaming and/or sports betting, with marketing transaction experience considered a plus
• Knowledge and understanding of gaming industry rules and regulations
