Overview
A leading global blockchain ecosystem behind the world’s largest cryptocurrency exchange by trading volume and registered users is seeking a qualified lawyer to join their legal team. The organization serves over 300 million users across more than 100 countries, offering a broad portfolio of digital-asset products including trading, finance, education, research, payments, institutional services, and Web3 features. This role involves providing legal support across multiple business lines with a focus on commercial contracts and data privacy compliance.
Responsibilities
- Draft and negotiate contracts for various business lines, providing holistic risk assessments and recommendations to enhance business value while mitigating risks.
- Collaborate with cross-functional and regional teams to support a wide range of transactional legal matters.
- Stay current on relevant laws, including data privacy and protection regulations such as GDPR, CCPA, and PDPA.
- Provide proactive, business-focused legal advice on commercial and data privacy issues.
- Manage legal responses to company matters including data breach incidents and regulatory inquiries, and oversee external legal communications.
- Monitor developments in legal frameworks, especially privacy laws, and ensure consistent legal approaches across internal stakeholders.
- Advise on data privacy impact assessments, data subject rights requests, and cross-border data transfers.
- Take prudent legal risks aligned with business objectives, advising and implementing solutions for commercial and privacy-related challenges.
Requirements
- Qualified lawyer with 5-8 years of relevant experience at a reputable international law firm or in-house legal team.
- Experience with technology contracts, e-commerce, fintech or payments, and data privacy compliance.
- Strong team player with good business acumen.
- Solid legal technical expertise and sound business judgment in commercial and data privacy law.
- Hands-on and independent in managing complex projects, including privacy compliance programs.
- Excellent legal drafting and interpretation skills.
