Overview
A nationally recognized Am Law 100 firm is seeking a Conflicts Attorney with direct law firm conflicts experience. This role involves sophisticated analytical work, navigating complex ethical issues, and serving as a trusted advisor to attorneys and firm leadership.
Responsibilities
- Analyze and resolve conflicts of interest related to new business intake, matter openings, and lateral attorney onboarding
- Conduct complex conflicts research using internal systems and external databases
- Evaluate legal, ethical, and business risks associated with prospective representations
- Recommend and implement conflict resolution strategies such as ethical walls, disclosures, waivers, and consent processes
- Draft conflict waivers, disclosures, engagement letter language, and supporting documentation
- Review Outside Counsel Guidelines and engagement letters for conflicts-related provisions and restrictions
- Collaborate closely with attorneys, firm leadership, and internal stakeholders on professional responsibility and risk management matters
- Conduct lateral attorney conflicts reviews and assist with onboarding-related conflict clearance processes
- Support attorney and staff education regarding conflicts procedures and professional responsibility obligations
Qualifications
- Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school
- Active bar admission required; Illinois bar admission preferred
- Minimum of 3 years of direct law firm conflicts experience required
- Experience analyzing conflicts, new business intake, lateral attorney conflicts, or professional responsibility matters within a law firm environment required
- Experience in a mid-sized or large law firm environment strongly preferred
- Experience with Intapp or similar conflicts management systems preferred
- Strong analytical, research, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to manage highly confidential information with professionalism, discretion, and sound judgment
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment while managing competing priorities and deadlines
Preferred Qualifications
- Chicago-based candidates preferred; however, qualified remote candidates will be considered

Compensation & Schedule
- Base salary range: $145,000–$180,000 depending on experience
- Hybrid schedule available for candidates located near the Chicago office
- Fully remote candidates will be considered for exceptional conflicts-focused backgrounds
Location
- Chicago preferred, but remote candidates will be considered
