Construction Defect - Of Counsel Attorney

Overview

A national law firm with over 1,400 attorneys across 46 offices is seeking an Of Counsel attorney specializing in Construction Defect litigation for its San Francisco office. This position offers a flexible hybrid or remote working arrangement.

Responsibilities

• Defend developers, general contractors, subcontractors, and design professionals in complex construction defect cases
• Draft pleadings, motions, briefs, legal memoranda, and other legal documents
• Attend court hearings, depositions, and mediations
• Manage litigation caseloads independently as part of a team, handling cases from inception through resolution
• Collaborate with colleagues across departments and offices to maintain a cohesive team environment
• Communicate with clients and provide status updates

Requirements

• Juris Doctor (JD) from an ABA-accredited law school
• Admission to practice law in the state of California
• Minimum of 8 years of defense litigation experience
• Strong preference for candidates with construction defect practice experience
• Experience drafting discovery and pretrial motions required
• Experience cross-examining plaintiffs and fact witnesses preferred
• Experience with court appearances, depositions, and trial work is a plus
• Second chair trial experience is a plus
• Superior analytical skills
• Strong written and oral communication skills

Compensation & Benefits

• Salary range: $185,000 to $230,000 USD
• Eligibility for discretionary bonuses
